A game that can be played by more than one person at the same time, either against each other or in co-operation with each other. There are three major types of multiplayer game:
- Single-unit, where both players look at the same screen, but operate a different controller or set of keys on a keyboard to control their character on-screen.
- Network games players have their computers linked via a cross-over cable or via a router in a LAN.
- Online games where players join an Internet server to play against or alongside each other.
