Aspects

The next key factor in your birthchart is the aspects. While planets can apply their influence completely independently, it is fascinating to study the way they interplay with the other planets.

The energies of the planets in the positions of the zodiac in the houses are affected by how the planets are positioned with respect to each other at any time. If two planets are close together - which astrologers call 'in conjunction' - they will be obliged to talk and work with one another, reinforcing these energies in helpful ways. If they stand on opposite sides of the circle they will be 'in opposition' and tend to oppose and contradict one another, bringing about disruptive effects.

These relations between planetary positions are called aspects, and are like relationships. Some are straightforward and simple, others are more complex.

Aspects typically evoke an easy or difficult response. The square, quincunx, opposition, and sometimes the conjunction are considered difficult whereas the semi-sextile, sextile, trine, and sometimes the conjunction are said to be easy.

Aspects provide the finishing touches to the analysis of the birthchart and can be fundamental factors in the formation of someone's character.

Unaspected Planets
A planet not forming any of the major aspects with another planet is "unaspected", and can often dominate a chart.
