Step Three - Charting the Houses

The birthchart form is divided into 12 equal segments called houses. Having plotted the Ascendant, the remaining 11 houses are drawn in as segmenting the chart at 30 degree intervals from the Ascendant, anti-clockwise. Each house relates to a different sphere of life - 4th house to home and family, for instance, 10th house to career and status and so on.

For example, if the ascendant was 18 degrees of Virgo, then the second 30-degree dividing line, which represents the start (cusp) of the second house, is marked at 18 degrees of Libra and the next dividing line, representing the start of the third house, is 18 degrees of Scorpio, and so on until the last line, which represents the 12th house and the sign of Leo.
