Many games (especially role playing games) give players a set of options to choose from when they first start the game in order to create their character. The class the player chooses will affect their abilities and stats, and therefore their hit points (HP), Attack Power (AP), Defence (DEF) and Damage Per Second (DPS). In RPGs, character classes are often medieval or fantasy stereotypes such as warrior, rogue, mage, cleric or bard.
The term 'classes' can also be used in a more general sense, such as types of vehicles in racing games.
