A term used as a verb to describe the player's act of 'pulling' an enemy to them (provoking them to attack) whether intentional or not. The 'aggravation radius' of hostile NPCs determines how close a player can get without the NPC noticing and attacking them. This radius may be affected by the difference between the player and the NPC's levels, by stats and abilities and sometimes even by objects and shadows in the world.
