Both signs have a strong sense of self, but Aquarius wants to be free and Capricorn wants to control. Aquarius has a great many opinions about everything and welcomes neither advice nor orders from inflexible Capricorn.
Aquarius is forever on the go and likes to spend money, which Capricorn considers frivolous, and so consequently tries to impose strict controls. Capricorn is careful, solid, and uncomplicated, and doesn't understand Aquarius's adventurous ideas.
Initially, the depressions of Capricorn will bring out the best in Aquarius as they try to help Capricorn through them - looking at the depressions as a challenge. But Aquarius hates wasting effort, and it soon becomes obvious that all the efforts to cure Capricorn's depressions are wasted, so they will take their sympathy to a more receptive audience. Not a great match.
