Schistosomiasis

Also known as Bilharzia.

An infestation by a parasitic blood worm that can damage the liver, bladder and intestines, causing abdominal pain, diarrhoea, fever, fatigue and enlargement of both the liver and the spleen. The disease occurs in tropical areas such as eastern South America, east Asia Africa, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
