Dysentery

A severe intestinal infection, causing bloody, mucus-filled diarrhoea, fever, serious fluid loss and abdominal pain. Dysentery can either be caused by a bacterial infection of the intestines (bacillary dysentery), or by parasitic infection (amoebic dysentery).
