Adenoids

Also known as Pharyngeal Tonsils.

A mass of lymphatic tissue situated at the back of the nose, where the nose blends into the mouth. They are part of the immune system and are designed to trap infectious agents such as viruses and bacteria, along with producing antibodies. They may be removed in an operation known as an adenoidectomy.
