Addison's Disease

A condition caused by inadequate production of adrenal hormones, caused by either malfunctioning adrenal glands (primary adrenal insufficiency) or the lack of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) to adequately stimulate the adrenal glands (secondary adrenal insufficiency). The condition is characterised by a dark pigmentation of the skin, weakness, lethargy and low blood pressure.
