Acidosis

A disturbance of the acid-base balance of the body in which the acidity of the body's fluids and tissues is increased. Symptoms include nausea, drowsiness and an increase in the rate of breathing. Acetone can sometimes be smelt on the breath. The condition is caused by metabolic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, severe kidney disease and lung disease.
