Sowing Large Seeds

Large seeds, such as those of beans and pumpkins, can be planted at the proper spacing by placing a seed in a hole made by a small dibber. Always ensure that the seed is firmly at the base of the hole, and is in contact with the soil around it. Tender plants, such as marrows may be protected by placing a glass jars or cut-off plastic bottles over the planting hole. This should be removed once the seedlings emerge.
