Location: Tuscany, Italy
Description: Rebuilt almost completely in the last five years, the original castello had previously been massively damaged by bombing during the second world war and being struck by an earthquake. Every part of the rebuilding was done with original stone reclaimed from the surrounding land. Modern concessions such as using earthquake proof bricks and cement have been visually minimised by cladding in local stone and adhering to traditional methods whenever possible. The finished castle boasts beautiful detailing, new oak beams over 7.5 metres long and a rebuilt Romeo and Juliet style loggia.
