Making a Small Claim

Faced with a genuine complaint, most firms are prepared to exchange goods or give a refund or appropriate compensation without the threat of court action, but some dig in their heels. If you find yourself in a dispute claiming up to £5,000 from a manufacturer, retailer, or service provider, you can take your claim to the county court. The defendant may settle on delivery of the summons, but if not, your case will be considered for the small claims track. Going to court needn't be daunting or expensive as long as you're well prepared and have worked out your costs.
