Sleeve Valve

A type of valve that may be used in piston engines in place of the more conventionally used poppet valves.

This type of valve consists of metal sleeves that fit around the piston inside the cylinder wall. As the piston moves up and down, holes in the sleeves coincide with inlet and exhaust parts to provide passage for the gases.
