Sealed Beam

A type of hermetically sealed headlight that consists of a reflector and filament as a single assembly over which a front cover, usually of clear glass, is permanently attached.

The advantages of a sealed beam are that it provides good alignment and is completely impervious to dirt and moisture. However, if the lamp burns out the whole assembly (lamp, reflector and lens array) must be replaced as a complete unit.
