A German term for 'unit injector'.
This technology is used in many of the Volkswagen Group's (for example, Audi, Skoda, Seat and VW) diesel engines to inject diesel under high pressure into the cylinder. The Pumpe Düse system offers more torque, increased power and fuel efficiency and less pollution than common rail systems. Models fitted with this system have the letter PD added to their names; for example, the Audi A6 1.9TDI PD.
