The primary load-bearing structural assembly of a vehicle. The platform not only supports the driveline and links the suspension components of the vehicle, but also determines its basic size.
A platform may be shared between various vehicle models (for example, the Nissan 350Z sports car and Infiniti FX SUV) and even between different car manufacturers (e.g. Audi TT and Volkswagen Golf). However, cars that share the same platform do not necessarily feel the same to drive; different engines, components and suspension settings can make a huge difference.
