Four-Stroke Cycle

Also known as the Otto cycle.

An engine that requires four piston strokes or two revolutions per cylinder to achieve a power stroke internal stroke, compression stroke, power stroke and exhaust stroke. This type of engine is more efficient than the two-stroke-cycle engine.
