Axle, Live

Also known as Rigid Axle.

A simple non-independent suspension that consists of a solid or straight axle with wheel hubs solidly bolted to it. The axle may be attached to the body by leaf springs, or by a combination of suspension arms and links.

A live axle allows the movement of one wheel to affect the opposite wheel, transmitting power either by separate half shafts or by side chains. Often used for heavy duty applications.
