Engine, Flat

Also known as Boxer Engine.

An engine whose cylinders are arranged opposite each other. As their name suggests, flat engines are relatively flat compared to V or inline engines. Common examples of flat engines are the Subaru flat-4 and the Porsche 911 flat-6.
