Carbon Dioxide

The major gas blamed for global warming. All petrol and diesel cars emit carbon dioxide (CO₂) to varying degrees, and it is these emissions that are measure to determine the rate of vehicle excise duty (car tax) for a vehicle, as well as the rate of company car tax. In general, alternative fuel cars produce less net CO₂ than vehicles powered by fossil fuel.
