Valuation Fees and Costs

by Edward Smith

Most lenders will require a new survey in order to assess the remortgage value of your home, which means that your new mortgage lender may charge you for valuation fees. However, not all mortgage lenders do so. In fact, some mortgage lenders offer deals that refund valuation fees on completion of the mortgage contract. The catch with these types of deals is that you have to use the lenders own choice of valuation experts and legal professionals.

Other lenders promote mortgage packages which offer free valuations in order to attract new customers. There is one positive side, though. As you're remortgaging you own home or property and therefore not moving house, you won't need to get a survey done as you would if you were buying a new property.
