The NatWest mortgage site offers a good selection of products let down by bad design. Fee-free remortgaging is attractive, and there are benefits for existing NatWest customers. Fees not apparent, so ask before signing!
To begin with, the NatWest mortgage site is clunky and hard to use- finding contact numbers is irritating, and the guides aren't helpful - "Find the Mortgage which suits you best" - doesn't.
Those gripes over with, the selection is acceptable. There's the obligatory offset "One" account, where your savings can offset your mortgage. Discounted, fixed-rate and buy-to-let mortgages are there; and then there's a separate flexible NatWest mortgage. Many other providers offer flexibility on any mortgage; so if you want the best of both worlds, look elsewhere. But remember, flexibility and a fixed rate may come at a price- a higher rate- so weigh up your needs carefully.
Nat-West do offer a 100% mortgage (these are getting quite rare); also if you are already a NatWest Advantage or Premier customer, you'll be entitled to a better rate too, so check the rates out if that applies to you. There's also a "fee-free" remortgage deal, so if you're shopping around this could save you valuation, arrangement and reservation fees- a very pleasant deal. One more gripe- fees don't appear on-site, so you'll need a long conversation at your branch to fully understand them.
