Halifax also has both an extensive branch network of building societies and an even larger network of estate agents.
A Halifax mortgage is always flexible- you can over or underpay, and interest is calculated daily rather than monthly, so you don't pay 'stepping' charges. An astonishing offer is also available if you want more money- you can have a loan at up to 97% of the value of your property (mortgage notwithstanding) which is an exceptional credit offer.
Halifax also keeps the extra fees down- they will in many cases pay your legal fees and sometimes also the valuation. They therefore offer good value- one warning: nowhere on the site will you find any fees or rates specifically identified (except for first time buyers rates which are listed), so get a formal quote before you buy.
