Tennis Spread Bets

Wimbledon takes over BBC TV for a fortnight in June and July and as result, the spread firms ensure that they offer a wide range of bets on tennis. In addition, spread betting is available on all other major televised tennis events with a huge number of bets on offer. The various bets include supremacy bets, number of games in a match, number of deuces or number of aces. Some of the most popular are listed below:

Match Bets

A prediction on the margin of victory between two players, where the winner of the match is awarded 10 points and an additional 5 points per set they win by. For example, you might see a quote such as "Federer/Hewitt 17 - 20".

The maximum result in a 3 set match is usually +/- 20, whilst the maximum in a 5 set match is +/- 25.

Game Supremacy

A prediction on the margin of victory between two players, in games won. For example, Federer/Hewitt 6-7.5. If Federer wins 6-4, 7-6, 6-2, he will have won a total of 19 games, and lost 12, giving a result of +7 to Federer.

Ace Performance Supremacy

A prediction on which player will serve the highest number of Aces. The following points are awarded: 10 points for the player serving the most Aces, plus 3 points for every Ace won by.

Cross Courts

A prediction on the aggregate set multi-games for a match. For example, during 2005 Wimbledon, Venus Williams beat Lindsay Davenport by 4-6, 7-6, 7-4, 9-7. The cross courts results were calculated as:

(4x6) + (7x6) + (7x4) + (9x7) = 24 + 42 + 28 + 63 = 157

The maximum cross courts results for a match is 400.
