UK Parliament

by Edward Smith

Parliament is the highest legislative authority in the United Kingdom, and is responsible for making and repealing UK law. It is made up of three constituent parts: the monarch, the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and is housed in the Palace of Westminster.

In this section, we investigate the role and the history of Parliament, and in particular its two chambers: the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

We also take a look at the major parliamentary occasions, such as the State Opening of Parliament and Prime Minister's Question Time. You can also find out details of how to arrange a visit to the Palace of Westminster.
